The Cow Milk Express is a one minute latex test for the detection cow’s milk in milk of other species (except buffalo milk). The Cow Milk Express is the unique rapid test available on the market for the detection heated cow's milk in eye's and goat's milk.
The test is based upon the specific detection of bovine beta-lactoglobulin (Blg) in the sample. Since the Blg is resistant to thermal denaturation, the test can be applied for the detection of raw and heated (pasteurized and sterilized) cow’s milk. The test can also be used to detect the presence of powder of bovine milk or whey in the sample.
The limit of detection of the test is 1% of sterilized milk after only 1 minute of incubation.
The Cow Milk Express can be used with whole milk, semi-skimmed, skimmed milk and whey.
The Cow Milk Express used a monoclonal antibody specific for the bovine beta-lactoglobulin.This purified antibody has been used to sensitise blue latex particles. A drop of the milk is mixed with a drop of the latex test reagent. If agglutination of the latex reagent occurs, then at least 1% of bovine milk (sterilized) is present in the milk tested.
